What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic loosely translates from Greek to: “practice or do by hand. “ The main focus of chiropractic treatment is the spine, including the muscles, nerves, and joints that compromise the structure. Chiropractic care is a considered a complimentary alternative medicine or CAM, by the health care community. This means that it is used to compliment medical doctors by offering an alternative to medications when appropriate. Chiropractors mainly focus on the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. They specialize in diagnosing and treating pain in the body that is caused by muscles, joints, tendons, or ligaments, most commonly in the back. Chiropractic treatment for such conditions are spinal manipulation, rehabilitation exercises, and manual therapy. Some common conditions treated by chiropractors are low back pain, neck pain, headaches, muscle strains, and disc injuries.

Chiropractic care is not meant to treat all conditions. Talk to your chiropractor ahead of time to see if treatment is right for you.
